The King’s Bakery Tea Room and Cafe in Bayfield is for sale.

If you’re thinking about starting or buying a business in this part of Huron County it’s well worth taking a look at The King’s Bakery.

Listed at $45,000 for the business which I think means fixtures, fittings, and goodwill. The building isn’t for sale, I imagine that you negotiate the lease separately – or take it over. It seats 22 people inside and 14+ people outside on the patio.

Right now it’s more tea room than bakery but you could certainly change that if you wanted to. In addition to selling baked goods and beverages to go they serve light lunches; a soup, salad, sandwich, quiche kind of menu.

It’s charming, very ‘tea room’. The building reminds me of the pictures I used to draw of houses when I was a kid. White picket fence, a path leading to the front door, a window on either side of the door. The patio is at the side and has the tranquility of a private garden.

One of the challenges of moving to the country is earning a living. If you’re thinking about moving to the Bayfield area in Huron County this is worth looking at. I think it would be best for two people – or one incredibly energetic person.

Definitely a seasonal business. You could run it in the summer and do something else in the winter or you could think of creative ways to generate revenue in the winter.

Not your Typical Ontario Country Home

Country Life is an upscale UK magazine. Imagine living in the UK and dreaming about owning a house in the country and then seeing these featured. You’d give up.

Link: Best country houses for sale | News | Houses for sale, property search, countryside news — Country Life.

Maybe that’s why Brits are buying houses and country properties in Canada. It satarted in the Maritimes, Nova Scotia particularly, because of cheap flight to Halifax.

With new cheap flights to Toronto and Hamilton I think we’re going to see an interest in Grey, Bruce, and Huron real estate on the part of people from the UK looking for vacation homes in Canada.
