// About Living in the Country

The title is a bit deceiving.  This isn’t a blog just about country life.  It’s a blog about life.  Sam writes about whatever is happening where ever she is and Jim writes about life in the country.

Sam Mooney

Sam MooneyWhen I started Living in the Country late in 2007 it was somewhere to write about country life in Ontario from what is essentially an urban perspective.  I was living in the Aude in the south of France but spending more and more time back in Canada.

My daughter and her partner had just bought a house in Priceville in Grey County.  Definitely a fixer-upper but a weekend retreat from Toronto and somewhere for me to spend time when I was in Canada.  I also spent time in Dungannon in Huron County.

Sometimes life changes faster than you expect it to and I moved back to Canada in the spring of 2008.  I had lived in Toronto before I moved to France but when I came back I found it too frantic.  Nice place to visit but I didn’t want to live there. I spent most of the year in Dungannon because there was no high speed internet access available in Priceville.  Tough to design and maintain websites on a dial-up.

As the year passed I found that I really missed the energy of a big city so now I spend time in the city – Toronto – and in the country.  It’s a perfect balance. You can reach me at sam@fortheloveofwork.com.
